麻麻哋 (Mah mah dei) = “So-so”
If you tried something that you didn’t quite like (for example, a local dish) and you want to express that it was kind of “meh” without being impolite about it, “mah mah dei” is the good expression to go for. It literally translates as “so-so” but is more commonly used to imply that something was not so good.
