Kolmonskop, in the Namib Desert, was once home to a population of around 1,300 in search of diamonds. Built by Germans in the early 1900s, the town was inhabited for around 40 years before the miners moved on to other areas. These days, you can visit the town’s buildings and structures, which are slowing being covered, inside and out, by desert sands.
