2. Fushimi Inari Shrine
Fushimi Inari is one of the most popular shrines in Kyoto. It lies in an area famous for sake brewing. Renowned for its thousands of gates that line trails leading to the peak of Mount Inari, Fushimi Inari was dedicated to the rice and sake gods in the 18th century.
These days, the gates are maintained through donations by companies and individuals. Some smaller shrines in the complex are even adorned by sake offerings.
